Tips on Removing Dust from O Scale Tracks
Have you found your o scale track covered with dust? Here is the solution
The o scale track looks good, but must be maintained to stay in good shape. Model railroad tracks are usually made of metal and may rust over time. The rust isn't just unsightly, but can cause malfunctions in the operation of the trains and even dangerous electrical shortages. This is particularly true of O scale track which is larger than most other tracks.
Rust should be stripped away from tracks immediately. Place several rust remover (10 or more drops) on the rusty areas of the track. Allow it align for about three seconds. Use the small line brush to gently, but thoroughly brush the surface the location where the rust has accumulated. Brush until the thing is the metal underneath. Scrape away any rust who has built up in the crevices on the rails and slats. Wipe away the rust debris on the track with the wash towel. If necessary, dampen one place of the rag along with wipe the metal adequately. Be sure to dry the track well to avoid further rusting. Place the rusted pieces of track in to a flat, plastic bin. Cover them completely using the rust remover. Allow the pieces of track to stay in the solution for the manufacturer's recommended timeframe. Remove the track bits and vigorously brush these people, one by one. Wipe each piece clean using the towel to remove just about all rust debris.
The "rust removal solution" you employ can be commercial rust remover, vinegar, lemon fruit juice or oil. All are effective; however lemon juice and vinegar can result in some undesirable damages to the track, especially if it is made of aluminum. If you apply commercial rust remover, observe the manufacturer's directions. You'll be able to reduce the chances of rust accumulating on your O scale track by starting in a low humidity area.
